Hamlet meatty Quote 2.
“Ooh, flutes! Let me see! Can I have a word with you alone, Guildenstern? Why do you keep trying to find out why I act the way I do? ....Don't lie to me! You mean to tell me you try to get me to talk but don't do the same for this simple instrument? Well, you're more likely to play a melody on this than you are to get me to explain things to you!”
Here hamlet is questioning Guildenstern on why they think they are able to “play him like a flute.”Hamlet knows that they are spying on him, but Guildenstern and Rosencratz do not know of this.
There have been times in my life where people would be around me to find information about myself or people around me.
What kind of “father” summons friends of his son(who have not seen hamlet in awhile!) just so that they can spy on him. I understand if Claudius asked Guildenstern and Rosencratz if they knew anything about hamlet, but to ask them to pretend to be friends again and spy on him is just wrong. For Guildenstern and Rosencratz to agree to do this is worse, ok maybe that fact that he is the kind might have to do with it but it is still wrong. I’m glad nothing like this can happen today, if someone in high power asks you to do something, and you do not agree with it you can say it goes against what you believe in(well I think that is the case, I could be wrong)

Hamlet meatty Quote 1.
“Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportion’d thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them unto thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch’d, unfledg’d comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel; but, being in,
Bear’t that the opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice:
Take each man’s censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express’d in fancy; rich, not gaudy:
For the apparel oft proclaims the man;
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be:
For loan oft loses both itself and friend;
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all,—to thine own self be true;
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.”
Here Polonius is giving his son, Laertes advice before he goes off to Paris. Basically Polonius is giving Laertes great advice, I guess you could say it his father-daughter son moment with Laertes. Although this is great advice it is kind of cheesy but oh well.
At some point in our lives we have all received advice from someone we love, whether we want to listen or not. Advice is very important to me because whenever I am confused or need help in life I ask people for advice on what I should do.
The advice Polonius gives to his son is very fatherly and great and all but as we learn that Polonius is a hypocrite. This makes his advice less meaningful to me, just as if someone were to give me advice and then go do the exact opposite of what they just told me.
This advice shows that Shakespeare is “timeless”, the advice that Polonius gives is still relevant today in out times.

July 24: I'm pretty hunger right now.
(i think i will stick to a regular skateboard)
Hello hello.
Well today I slept in and then watched “Titus” again and finished my film review mini project. I'm glad i choose the film review instead of my initial choice of a newspaper . I didn’t think “Titus” would be two and a half hours long. Although it was long I did enjoy it. On top of watching the movie I made an outline for my essay.

Meatty quote 4
But my heart sunk within me as with bitter sickness, and I refrained. I saw him on the point of repeating his blow, when, overcome by pain and anguish, I quitted the cottage and in the general tumult escaped unperceived to my hovel.
-monster (chapter 15)
No duh, they attacked the monster. He’s an 8 foot monster! Although he deserved what he got because he did not fully think his actions though, I feel sorry for him. All the monster wants is to be part of a family.
During this part of the novel, the monster confronts the father and all is well until the children come. The monster wants to have “something” in this world. He is alone in the world. As people we want to find a partner. I can’t imagine how it must feel to know that you are alone and the thoughts that you will never find someone. The monster wants to be part of “something” in this world so bad that he puts up with the attack of Felix.
The monster is confused as why the De Laceys would leave, he offered everything to them. The result of his actions and the actions of the Del Laceys leave the monster with a hatred for mankind. His hatred for mankind narrows down to his creator who has abandoned him in this world. I feel for the monster, to be reject is never a good feeling. To be abandoned is an even worse feeling. Although the monster deserved what he got because of his actions he does not deserve to be left to fend for himself in an unknown world.

Meatty quote 3
"Wretch!" I said, "it is well that you come here to whine over the desolation that you have made. You throw a torch into a pile of buildings; and when they are consumed you sit among the ruins and lament the fall. Hypocritical fiend! if he whom you mourn still lived, still would he be the object, again would he become the prey, of your accursed vengeance. It is not pity that you feel; you lament only because the victim of your malignity is withdrawn from your power."
First off I would like to say, “I like the captain, and he is the first person in the story who has a conversation with the monster (other than Victor, of course)
Walton brings up a very good point that the monster only cares now that he has seen what he has done and that if Victor were still alive he would still torment him. Although I do see the genuine care from the monster. Victor was the closest thing the monster had in the cruel world, it must have been hard to see him die.
We all go through what the monster has gone through. At the time we may think that what we are doing is not wrong, but once we see the consequences of our actions we feel guilty. The monster’s life has been filled with remorse and guilt, almost everything he has done has had a negative consequence from man kind. Once victor is gone, he feels a sense of emptiness. A sense that he has never felt before and one that he will never feel again since he is going to die.

Today I after much calling around I finally found a copy of . Julie Taymor’s version of Titus Andronicus called “Titus”. I called approximately 5 Rogers video stores(2 answered) and 1 Blockbuster! Thank god for stock locating, I ended up renting the movie from Blockbuster. Looking at the details this seems to be quite a long move, 2 and a half hours long.

July 16th: The Scary burger
(picture taken by me-"The Scary Burger" aka my dinner)
Today in class we got our Shakespeare in class essay topics.
1. How does the main character of your play teach you to be more humane?
2. Compare the play and a parallel version your studying.
3. What have you learned about yourself from studying your play?
4. Compare the main character to one from a Religious text.
5. A topic of your choice.
I’m not sure which topic to choose yet but we’ll see.
Meatty quote 2
In one of the early letters Victor says, “So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of Frankenstein—more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation”
First of all I find it funny that he refers to himself in third person....i thought only athletes and celebrities with big egos did that. This just shows that Frankenstein just may have gone slightly mad after everything.
Basically Victor is telling Walton that he is ready to discover what is thought to be undiscoveredable Victor’s passion and desire to gain knowledge pushes him to the extremes. He wants to unfold the secrets of life and make scientific discoveries that no one thought would be possible.
We all have a thirst for knowledge. We all go to school to learn(well some of us do). As a human being curiosity is only part of our human nature. We want to answer questions that are left unanswered. We seek answers to life that will benefit society and the human race. Knowledge gives a sense of power. Knowing and Knowledge in the world help us in our world today, without it we would be left behind.

Meatty quote 1
Near the beginning of the book Victor Frankenstein says “I saw the dull yellow eye
of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsion motion agitated it's
limbs. How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the
wretch whom with such infinite pains care I have endeavoured to form?”
I wonder what it must have felt like to feel like God, to give life, to posses that power. Only a mad man would want to feel like God, to have the ability to give life and resurrect the “dead”, and to be like no one on earth.
Victor describes what he sees as his creation takes life. In some sort of twisted way this is Victor Frankenstein’s child. He created it, although he did not create it in god’s image, he still created a life.
After all the work he put into making the monster, he just ends up being disgusted by it-what kind of parent is that. As a parent he should have taken care of what he created no matter what. This could relate to my life because I, myself was an “accident”, if my parents did not take responsibility for their actions I could have turned out like the monster abandoned and confused. The love of a parent and the lessons they teach you make all the difference in life.

July 13th: Tuesday the 13th?
Hopefully it never comes to this.
Today I spent most of my time reading Act I and a bit from Act II. From my researchit is one of Shakespeare’s tragedies.
Act I summary: well this is a brief summary, and by brief I mean brief.
• Titus is a Roman general coming back from battling the Goths. B
• rings back, Tamora Queen of the Goths.
• Scarf ices one of Tamora’s sons.
• People elect Titus as emperor of Rome, Titus declines and elects Saturninus as emperor.
Saturninus falls in love with Tamora.

July 12th: I love naps
Hi guys!
Well today after school I took a nap. Well my 30 minute nap actually turned into a 3 hour nap, oops. Anyways, I went to chapters to look for Titus Andronicus but surprisingly they didn’t have it! I don’t think I can wait 5-8 business days, the course would almost be over. Luckily I went over to the library and found myself a copy. Unfortunately someone already took the dvd copy of “Titus”.
i could totally use one of these.

July 9th:The Beginning of the End
I hope summer school can be like this.
Hi guys
Alrite basically I have to make daily blog posts on my “blog”. I still have to get used to this whole blog think but I think I can handle it. So basically I’m doing this to keep a track of my work and its going to be used for our culminating project.
Chesser gave us a list of plays to choose from and here were my top choices.
1. Merchant of Venice
2. Othello
3. Titus Andronicus.
We picked numbers to see who would get to choose which play. The number you picked also represented the presentation order. I drew #6 and after much thinking I choose Titus Andronicus, partially because I read Merchant of Venice already and someone took Othello already.
